  • SATS Booster Sessions

    16th April 2015

    Our Year 6 teachers Mrs Robinson and Mrs Tamdi are offering some after school sessions for Year 6 children from 3.10pm - 4.15pm on the following dates:

    • Tuesday 21st April
    • Thursday 23rd April
    • Tuesday 28th April
    • Thursday 30th April
    • Tuesday 5th May

    This is an opportunity for the children to complete their homework and do some extra preperation for the upcoming SATS, which will take place week commencing 11th May 2015. These sessions are entirely voluntary.

  • READING ROCKSTARS

    13th April 2015

    Key Stage One children have been invited to take part in our Easter Reading Competition 'Reading Rock Stars'. All they need to do is have a photograph taken, reading their book, in the most exciting or unusual place they can find.

     

    The competition willbe judged by the memebers of the School Council and the most 'Rock Star' entry will be awarded 20 bonus points to spend in the new Wainwright Shop.

  • QEA Race for LIfe and The Big Lunch!

    7th April 2015

    Queen Elizabeth Academy will be holding their very own Race for Life event and will be combining this by hosting 'The Big Lunch' on Sunday 7th June 2015 on the QEA school grounds from 11am - 3pm.

     

    They will be holding their own Race for Life event for Cancer Research UK and they would love your son/daughter to join in on the fun!

     

    Feel free to bring along a picnic for after the race, they will have lots of fun filled activities and entertainment planned to fill the afternoon.

    We have a new School Menu for April - October 2015. School meals are a great alternative to packed lunches, which can be costly & only 1% of which meet the nutritional standards that apply to our school meals.

     

    It is well known that hunger affects concentration & that well-nourished children do better at school. In pilot studies where children have been given free school meals, they were academically months ahead of their classmates & were more likely to eat vegetables at lunchtime instead of less healthy fo

  • Sportshall Athletics Competition

    20 of our children attended the School Partnership Trust Sportshall Athletics Competition on Thursday 26th March 2015. The competition took place at the English Institute for Sport in Sheffield.

  • Trent Bridge Cricket Ground

    Some of the children got the opportunity to attend a Classroom Day at Trent Bridge Cricket Ground on Friday 20th March 2015. This day gave the children a better insight into Nottinghamshires Cricket history, as well as taking part in games and activities.

  • Red Nose Day - Triathalon

    17th March 2015

    We raised a whopping £589.50 for Red Nose Day! The children came to school with wacky hairstyles and made donations of 50p and we had Red Noses on sale. 

     

    Here are some photographs of the children taking part in our sponsored Triathalon for Red Nose Day! The children had great fun! They could choose to either run or walk around the school grounds or they had the choice to bring their scooters from home.

  • Easter Raffle!

    16th March 2015

    We are running a raffle for Easter, this will give the children the opportunity to win a luxury Easter egg. Tickets can be purchased at 25p per ticker or a strip of 5 for £1.00 from class teachers.

     

    There wil be 4 Easter egg prizes available, one for Year 5 and 6, one for Years 3 and 4, one for Years 1 and 2 and a final egg for Reception and Nursery. The winners will be chosen at random during the final assembly before Easter, taking place on Thursday 2nd April.

  • Wainwright's Got Talent

    We now have a display board located in the main entrance, were we will be showcasing all the talents of our children at Wainwright Academy. We know lots of children take part in hobbies and sports and we would like to recognise and share their achievements.

     

    We have asked parents/carers to send in any certificates or photographs of their child with any badges or trophies which they are happy for us to display on the board.

  • Mediterranean cooking in Year 3

    3rd March 2015

    3P had a cooking morning in February, they cooked a Moussaka, Tortilla, Greek salad, Pesto and pasta and Minestrone soup. Each group cooked the dishes from scratch and Miss Kirkbride cooked them in the oven. When they were cooked all the class tried the dishes and commented on what they liked and what they did not like about the food.

     

    The children then tried foods such as: Mango, Pineapple, Kiwi, Grapes, Avacado, Lime, Melon, French Stick, Pitta Bread, Goats Cheese, Brie Cheese and Olives. They rated the fo

    We raised a fantastic £82 in free books for our school during our Scholastic Book Fair.

  • Winter Veg Garden

    9th January 2015

    Our Year 6 pupils have their own garden that they tend to on a regular basis. They thoroughly enjoy looking after their garden and have grown some vegetables over the Winter months, they, please see photographs below.

     

    They have grown: Spring Onions, Watercress, Kale, Cabbage, Lettuce, Wild Rocket, Spinach, Leaf Beat 'Bulls Blood' and Chicory.

     

    The Year 6 children have ordered some gardening goodies from the Morrison's Let's Grow voucher scheme, which they are very excited about.

  • Netball

    Our Deputy Head Teacher Miss Robinson will be starting up a Netball after school club on Thursday 8th January from 3.20pm - 4.00pm (due to dark nights, the time will extend to 4.20pm after half term).

  • Fossil making

    18th November 2014

    Year 3 children investigated Fossils and made their own using shells and plasticine. They also made some chocolate rocks. Please take a look at our photographs below.

  • Manor Sports Festival

    Some of our Year 1 and 2 children took part in 8 mini athletic activities such as javlin and relay at the Manor Sports Festival on Thursday 13th November. They showed team work and brilliant sportsmanship!

  • Victorian Christmas Market

    13th November 2014

    Queen Elizabeth Academy will be holding their annual Victorian Christmas Market on Thursday 27th November. The market will be taking place on the academy site and will start at 5.30pm.

    There will be stalls full of Christmas goodies for all the family and an array of laterns provided by Farmilo, Crescent and Flying High Academy will bring the venue to life!

    There will be performances from Pleasley Colliery Brass Band and the Queen Elizabeth's Family of Schools.
