  • Easter Egg Hunt

    Parents! Come and join your child in an Easter Egg Hunt at Wainwright Primary after school.

    Children take home a free chocolate egg and perhaps win the giant Easter Bunny!

    16 members of our staff will be taking part in the annual Pretty Muddy 'Race for Life' in June at Clumber Park to raise money for Cancer Research, our team will be called The Wainwright Warriors!

    We would like to thank Kier for their kind donation of £50. Kier are the building company responsible for our new academy building.

  • World Book Day

    As part of our activities for World Book Day, the well-known author Peter Murray visited school. Following on from this visit the children had the opportunity to purchase signed books at a cost of £6.00.

    Peter vistied each year group where he told one of his favourite stories Scabbajack. The children had a wonderful day!

  • Spring Term 1 Attendance

    4th March 2016

    5W and 2W were the best attenders three times in the last half term – making them the  best in school  - Well Done!

    Overall our attendance this term is now similar to national at 95%. A massive thank you to parents for supporting education in this way.

    Our academy target for attendance this year is 96% - with parents support we can do it!

    Thank you for responding to the parents survey. It really helps school leaders to have feedback to help improve our school. The results were very supportive and it’s good to know that we have the confidence of our parents. Some concerns/questions were raised:

  • Young Voices

    On Monday 18th January an excited bus full of Wainwright pupils travelled to Sheffield Motorpoint Arena to take part in Young Voices, the largest school concert in the world!

  • After School Clubs

    From Monday 11th January Mr Cave will be running after school sports clubs on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday.  Miss Robinson will be running a netball club on Mondays.

  • Children in Need

    16th November 2015

    We would like to thank everyone who donated to Children in Need on Friday 13th November. We raised a total of £523.00 for the worthwhile cause.

    • The children came to school dressed as their favourite Superheros or wore non-uniform for a donation of £1.00.
    • We sold homemade Pudsey Bear buscuits at a cost of 50p each.
    • Mrs Hallam sold Pudsey Bear wristbands at a cost of £1.00 each.
    • We had a large Pudsey Bear in our main hall, the children came in class by class and placed any spare change they had on it. We managed
  • Kindle Winners

    We would like to congratulate our half termly attendance winners, each child won a Kindle. The winners were announced after being drawn from a prize draw in assembly.

  • New Library area!

    New Library area in the main school entrance!

    Starting from next week beginning 5th October after school at 3:10pm every Thursday parents are invited to help their child to choose a book from the new library in the main entrance after school at 3:10 – 3.30pm every Thursday.

    Come and see the giant dragon egg close up! Choose a lovely bedtime book to read with your child.

    Please support this weekly Thursday event.

  • MacMillan Coffee Morning

    A big thank you to everyone that attended our Coffee Morning on Friday 25th September, we raised a total of £105.00.

  • Young Voices

    16th September 2015

    We are very excited to announce that on Monday 18th January 2016 our school is taking part in Young Voices, which is the largest schools concert in the world.

    We need children to join our after school club every Thursday from 3.10pm - 4.10pm starting from 17th September. We will have fun learning words and actions for 15 songs that we will perform with lots of other schools at Sheffield Motor Point Arena.

    Parents are welcome to buy tickets and watch us perform at the concert, further details on how to buy the

  • Young Writers Competition

    5th June 2015

    The Year 1 pupils have recently taken part in the Young Writers Poetry Competition. They learnt about Acrostic Poems and created their own based on their name or something that they like and have sent them off to see if they have what it takes to become published poets! The best ones will be published in a book that the pupils can purchase, as well as the winning school receiving a prize!

  • Saving Water with Severn Trent!

    3rd June 2015

    Year 1 had a visit from Severn Trent Water where they learnt all about how to save water!

    The children learnt that:

    • You should wash your car using a sponge and bucket instead of a hose pipe.
    • When you have a bath, only fill it up to your belly button – not your chin!
    • Always remember to turn the taps off!
    • Only put toilet roll down the toilet – not baby wipes.
    • Don’t spend more than 4 minutes in the shower.
