    Supporting Children in Need

    To support this year’s Children in Need, our academy has been raising funds and awareness by taking part in a charity day.

    On Friday, pupils and staff attended the academy in a variety of weird and wonderful outfits as we held a ‘Wacky Clothing Day’, with children from nursery to year 6 getting involved. All pupils and staff had to make a donation to the charity to dress in their outlandish outifts, with a large sum of money being raised as a result.

    Tasty healthy eating workshops inspire pupils

    Pupils at Wainwright Primary Academy enjoyed a healthy eating workshop recently when Warburtons visited the academy to deliver sessions to year 2 pupils.

    The visits were arranged to work alongside the healthy eating lessons that pupils in year 2 undertake as part of their ‘I’m amazing’ topic. Warburtons’ School Visitor Claire Stephens visited the academy on Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th November 2016 to teach approximately 50 children about the health benefits of bread and the importance of trying new, healt

    The Governing Body of Wainwright Primary Academy has a vacancy for Parent Governor and is looking for parents/grandparents/carers who are interested in this role and who currently have children at the academy.   • Anti-Bullying Week

    21st November 2016

    Last week the children learnt about bullying and ways to deal with this in class and through assemblies.

    Year 5 and 6 had a special assembly from PC Romek Kordecki where they gained a deeper understanding about cyber bullying. Each class shared what they had learnt in a whole school assembly. An invaluable learning experience as it has raised awareness and it ensures all  children know what to do if they need help.

  • Early Years Foundation Stage Meeting

    15th November 2016

    We are holding an Early Years Foundation Stage meeting on Thursday 24th November at 9.10am in the main school hall. The meeting will outline the EYFS curriculum giving details of what the children are learning at what stage in their development. The meeting will focus on Tapestry, a new method of recording the children's Learning Journey in the Early Years.

  • QEA Remembrance Service

    8th November 2016

    The Year 5 and 6 pupils have been invited to Queen Elizabeth's Academy for a Remembrance Service on Friday 11th November 2016.

    This will be a wonderful opportunity for our older students to take part in a special event with other children from within DALP (Diverse Academies Learning Partnership).

    Staff from our Academy will be walking to and from QEA with the children and will remain with them throughout the visit.

  • Tea party raises money for Macmillan

    Wainwright Primary Academy pupils supported a key UK charity this week as they held a ‘Mad Hatter’s Tea Party’ to fundraise for Macmillan Cancer Support.

    The community event was held as part of Macmillan’s Coffee Morning, and pupils from year 5 organised the event with support from teacher Mrs Westmoreland. The tea party was held in the main hall which was dressed up in a magical Alice in Wonderland theme, with cakes, bookmarks and tealights being sold to parents, staff and other pupils.     We are very sorry but due to circumstances beyond our control, our supplier has informed us that there will be a delay on certain uniform items due to a manufacture error. Please log onto the uniform website by clicking here for further details.

    PLEASE NOTE: Children can continue to wear the old uniform for any items that cannot be purchased before September 2016.

  • Drama Club - Aladdin Trouble

    22nd June 2016

    As you know, some of the children in Key Stage 2 (Years 3 to 6) have been attending the Drama Club each Monday with Miss Robinson and Miss Deakin, preparing for a performance of Aladdin.


    It is with regret that we have to inform you that due to staffing changes, the performance will not be able to go ahead in July as originally planned. The amount of work still to be covered in preparing for the performance is not achievable in the timescale available.


    This will mean that there will no longer be a Drama Club

    Every year, as part of our curriculum enrichment, we celebrate ‘Ethel Wainwright Day’.  As a school we are extremely proud to be named after Ethel Wainwright as she achieved so much in her lifetime and worked tirelessly to improve the education for children in Mansfield. We want our children to learn about inspirational people whose lives have had an impact on modern Britain and the wider world.  Ethel was certainly one of these people!
